Joy as Spirit’s Compass

Welcome to the second blog in our series on connecting more to Spirit. This week I want to introduce to a radical new concept of joy.

We’ve been taught to treat joy like a reward — something that comes after the work is done, when we’ve earned it, or done something to deserve it.

But Spirit doesn’t see it that way.

Joy is not a luxury. Joy is a compass.

It’s one of the clearest ways Spirit communicates:

This is the way. Keep going. Do more of this.

Think of a time you felt pure joy — maybe laughing until your sides hurt, feeling the wind in your hair, hearing a piece of music that lit you up. Maybe you haven’t felt joy in a while and you have to dig deep here. Perhaps joy is in a childhood memory of cycling your bike, colouring, kicking ball with friends or playing tennis against a wall? Call to mind now such a moment of joy.

On such occasions, when you felt joy, your whole being was in harmony. Your body, mind, and soul were saying the same thing: Yes.

That “yes” is Spirit telling you that what you’re doing is aligned with who you truly are.

Joy doesn’t have to be grand or Instagram-worthy. In fact, Spirit often speaks in small, ordinary moments:

  • The first sip of morning coffee in the quiet
  • Sunlight spilling through the window
  • A smile exchanged with a stranger

When we notice and savour these moments, we strengthen our connection to Spirit — and begin to trust joy as a reliable form of guidance.

Many people feel we must “deserve” joy. But when we delay joy, we delay alignment. Spirit doesn’t want you to earn joy; Spirit wants you to live from it.

What would change in your life if you let joy lead?

In my Radical Wellbeing Activation Card Deck, one of everyone’s favourite cards is Follow Your Path of Delight. In the accompanying guidance I encourage you to pay attention to what are the thoughts, people, things, ideas, places that bring you joy? What types of movement or food do you love? Notice how it feels in your body when you engage with whatever causes expansion and delight and decide today to do more of that.

Let’s make this real…

Each day for the coming week, jot down one moment that sparked joy — no matter how small. By week’s end, you’ll have your own personalised “joy map,” a set of Spirit-given clues pointing towards what beings you into harmony and alignment with your best self.
