Make This Your Best Summer Ever

Between my podcast with my wonderful co-host Gary Benoit and my own blogs and teachings of late, being intentional has been a theme!

And in Ireland at the moment, there is a lot of conversation about the weather!  In particular about how the summer is a bit of a wash out and whether we are wishing our lives away (again!) hoping that it will be better in August.  Perhaps where you are it is different?  You may be experiencing a heat wave or forest fires or something in-between.

Either way, what I’d love you to consider today is whether you are having a great summer or whether you are letting the weather or some other condition in your life dictate your experience.

I’ve hyperlinked the podcast on being intention over the summer and the most recent blog on the theme of intention.  I’m trusting that with those available to you, you have resources to lean into the topic in general.

Today, I want to approach the topic in a slightly different way.  Often times, we are willing to be more intentional but aren’t entirely sure how to put that into practice.

So in this week’s blog, I’m sharing with you a self-coaching resource so that you can work with your intention for the remainder of the summer in a very concrete way.

Whether you have had holidays already or are still planning or creating the holiday you’d love to have, this resource supports you in turning your intention for the overall summer experience into your lived reality.

Now plan a short session with yourself!  Put on some music or sit outdoors in a sunny spot and get intentional!  What would your best summer ever look like and what are the actions you can take to create it that way?

For my part, I’m heading off to the gorgeous county of Suffolk in England to meet up with extended family there.  On one level, I’d have preferred to be in Devon!  (We have lots of extended family in Devon and many wonderful memories of meeting up with them).  But Devon was not to be this year and Suffolk was our chosen alternative.

So what’s a girl to do?  Make it my best summer ever anyway!

Reflecting on this week’s downloadable resource, I’ve been drawing on my own memories of great family holidays in Devon as well as the holidays I loved as a kid.

Here are some of the things I’m now planning, inspired by my reflections:

  • Pack some great books in case the weather is inclement

(queue childhood holidays indoors in a wet and windy West Cork, curled up with a book and happy as a clam)

  • Bring picnic bag for days out at the beach or stopping off at a layby enroute
  • Plan at least 3 swims!
  • As for doing something new and different, I’m looking at sky diving… not sure anyone else in the family is too keen though. I’ll keep you posted!

What are the ingredients in your best summer ever?  I love to hear from you in the comments below.
